Welcome to the Soo Line Historical Museum



Weyburn's electric utility came into being in 1905 when Weyburn Electric Light and Machine Company was formed by a group of Canadian Pacific Railway employees. This present building was constructed when the City took over the utility in 1909. In January of 1960, the power plant was sold to SaskPower Corporation. It is presently operated as a museum by the Weyburn Soo Line Historical Museum.

Located on the banks of the Souris River in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada, a city of about 10,000 people.

The feature attraction of the museum is the Charles Wilson Silver Collection, which is the largest private silver collection in Canada. There are over 5,000 pieces to the display, dated from 1750 to 1972.
